A very simple document which turns into an 8 page book when copied on both sides. The children complete what they do on each day with words and pictures before presenting it to their friends, using the Spanish words for the days.

I took in a puppet and commented on its colours and features. Children commented on their own colours and features. Then I provided socks for children to make puppets with Spanish names, and they made little books about their own puppets using the templates in these documents. Of course, the puppets are proud of speaking Spanish, and the puppet who manages to speak exclusively Spanish the longest wins a prize. We use, sí, no, no sé, and gradually introduce more Spanish phrases as puppets are knocked out.

In addition to these 2 books with sentences about manners that learners earn points for using, I like learners to make a poster of 'las palabras mágicas' - please, thankyou, pardon, etc. in Spanish.

These are just cards with the words on, which need to be illustrated by the children before they can play dominoes.

There are 7 different images, all quite small. This is a relaxing reward part of Spanish classes, where the only Spanish the children need to say is the word that appears on the card, and 'Chócola' the word I use for 'snap' in Spanish.

This turns into a nice book when copied onto both sides of one sheet. We learn that the word for 'this' in Spanish is different for masculine and feminine words. Then we revise recognising masculine and feminine words and get the sentences correct together. In the books it is pencil first, then pen, then test each other on the sentences using the pictures as prompts.

The children in my Spanish club sing this as one of their weekly songs. They learned it while making pet arañas to take home.

Lots of activities based around an Argentinian playtime song about sheep playing in the woods while the wolf isn't there. I have included sound files for pronunciation and my own type of lesson plan. I hope this is useful - it could provide work for several sessions.

I use this resource to get all the children to say 'soy un pollito' etc., as I divide them into 3 teams for points earning purposes. It links nicely with a story on the growstorygrow website (subscription necessary for that), but also works as a nice session that stands on its own.

The children sort out the animals in carpet time, taking pollitos to sleep in the nido, and perritos to sleep in the cesta. The finger book takes a bit of making, but is very popular. The pages need to be stuck on card then holes cut where indicated for your fingers to come through to be the gusanitos that the chicks go hunting. Only for those who do love clarting on!

3 short and simple songs in Spanish to start a session: Hola ¿Qué tal?, Buenos días, and Hola mi amigo, with words and music

Chu Chu wa is an action song to learn parts of the body. Here is a book with each action in it to be coloured in, a monster with the body parts to decorate, and the body words with missing letters to complete.

Children practice the numbers 1-12, and learn the words of the phrases in this game: 'What's the time Mr Wolf?' 'It&'s 3 o clock' 'It&';s dinner time' The children play the game with sheep counters on a board.

This is a ready made game for learners to use to practice their numbers in Spanish. The children prefer to use bigger cards so I blow the image up to A3 paper.

A short story with threes that the children can respond with 3 actions to each page. The pages can then be altered to other numbers so the children can give different number of reponses. There is a little book for the children to colour and take home.

A traditional game to throw the dice and collect all the clothes to draw on your body, naming the words as you go.

There is a bingo game, a facebook in which children can name people they know as bats, witches, pumpkins etc., and flashcards to initially teach the words. I ask children to call 'tengo' and hand out counters to cover them, and to call 'casa' when they have a full house.

This is a nice craft activity or simply a finger rhyme. There is a lovely version of this song by Grupo Encanto on Cantajuego Volume 4. You can see it on the 2nd half of the video linked above.

A song with actions to say yes and no.

Simple statements which can be introduced with pictures, acted out in a drama class, then followed up by illustrating a mini book. The document is printed on both sides of one sheet, then it will cut down the middle long-ways to fold into a book.
